GPA Estimator

Class Name Letter Grade Credits

To graduate “With Distinction,” a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.750 or higher at the time the student graduates. To graduate “With High Distinction," a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.900 or higher. To qualify for a degree with distinction, a student must have completed 60 or more semester credits at the University of Minnesota. Per policy, only University of Minnesota course work factors into the GPA calculation.

How to calculate term GPA:

  • If you want, you may enter the name of the courses you are taking, but this is not necessary.
  • Enter your estimated letter grades in the middle column of the estimator for all your courses.
  • Then, enter the respective credits for each course of the current semester in the right column.
  • Finally, click Calculate to estimate your term GPA.

How to calculate cumulative GPA

  1. Enter your current GPA in the upper left text box.
  2. Next, enter the total number of credits completed for all previous years.
  3. If you want, you may enter the name of the courses you are taking, but this is not necessary.
  4. Enter your estimated letter grades in the middle column of the estimator for all your courses.
  5. Then, enter the respective credits for each course of the current semester in the right column.
  6. Finally, click Calculate to estimate your cumulative GPA.

About the GPA Estimator »

The JavaScript GPA Estimator was developed by the Software Design & Development II course (CSCI 4655), taught by Nic McPhee and Rob Faux at the University of Minnesota, Morris in May 2003.

This piece of software will estimate a student’s term and/or cumulative GPA.
